TDSB Trustee’s Report

Jerry Chadwick
TDSB School Trustee – Ward 22 Scarborough East

Welcome to the school year!

Welcome students, parents, staff, and the community to the school year! I know that September can be a busy and hectic time, but I want to take a moment to wish all of you a safe and successful year.

As your Trustee, I look forward to hearing directly from you on issues that affect our schools and community. I hope you will join me at my scheduled ward forum meetings to share your feedback and get involved with the TDSB. Scheduling information about my ward forum meetings will be shared through the schools, on and on Twitter @jerryward22. is a great resource that you can use to find important information about the upcoming school year. Visit the Back to School page for information about the 2015-16 school year calendar, get homework tips, learn about school safety, and more.   If you have any questions, please contact me. I look forward to meeting and working with you this year.

Communicating with the TDSB
I know that navigating the TDSB can sometimes be confusing. To help make things a little more clear, here is a list of whom you should contact with any questions, concerns or comments:

Classroom Teacher: The first place to go with a question or concern is your classroom teacher. The classroom teacher can help with:

  • Classroom rules or consequences
  • Homework or assignments

School Principal: If you would like more information or you have questions that are beyond the classroom, the school principal is always happy to help. For example, the principal can assist with:

  • First step for any issue pertaining to individual school
  • Student registration
  • Student schedules
  • Student suspensions
  • Report card concerns
  • Teacher conduct
  • School safety and security
  • School Code of Behaviour
  • School budget and fundraising
  • School council issues

School Superintendent: Superintendents are responsible for a Family of Schools. They support school staff and can be contacted if you have questions that have not been answered or for help with:

  • Second step for any of the above issues
  • Alternate attendance requests
  • Suspension appeals

Trustee: Trustees are your elected community officials. They are available to help you with the following areas of the TDSB:

  • Any item on a Board agenda
  • Board policies under review
  • Board budget
  • Issues in the community
  • News reports
  • Ideas for new Board initiatives
  • Collective bargaining issues
  • Intergovernmental affairs

Board Office:

  • Continuing Education
  • Night and summer school
  • Adult education
  • ESL
  • Board documents
