MPP Report

Vijay Thangasalam
Member of Provincial Parliament, Scarborough-Rouge Park

I want to take this opportunity to express how truly humbled, overwhelmed and moved I am by the voters of Scarborough-Rouge Park for entrusting me with the responsibility of representing them at Queen’s Park.

Ontario is now ready for a positive change with a majority PC government, and I am excited and honoured to be part of this team led by Premier Doug Ford. I am looking forward to bringing the communities issues and concerns to Queen’s Park.

This was definitely an amazing and hard fought campaign. I want to also acknowledge and thank my opponents for putting together a great spirited campaign. I wish them nothing but the best. I am honoured and privileged to have participated in the democratic process. This election has reminded me once again, that we are blessed to live in the greatest country in the world and the greatest province in the country.

I also want to thank the dedicated volunteers and supporters who stood shoulder to shoulder with me and proved that with hard work and determination anything is possible. Thank you for walking with me through this journey and I look forward to working with each and every one of you in the future.

A special thank you to the residents of Scarborough-Rouge Park for having faith in me and electing me as the voice for this riding. Scarborough has been neglected for so long, and I am ready to advocate for positive change. I pledge to you I will continue to work hard and tirelessly to continuously earn your trust and confidence every step of the way.

At this time, I am pleased to share that our majority Ontario PC government is working on fulfilling its promises to the people. This is the beginning of a new era of millennials who are ready to serve the people of Ontario! I am excited to work alongside with 13 millennials elected MPP’s to make sure positive change is delivered for you and your families.

Our incoming government also stands true to our promise of standing up for the 7,500 jobs in Ontario that depend on the Pickering Nuclear Generation Station by supporting the continued operation of this power plant.

We hope to restore accountability and trust in the government, and that is why the PC government is initiating a full audit of government spending.

I had the opportunity to meet with staff and CEO, Elizabeth Buller, of Rouge Valley Health System, Centenary Hospital. Scarborough hospitals have been neglected for too long and our patients deserve better health care. I will be a strong voice in advocating for the needs of Scarborough hospitals, and to cut down the wait times in our emergency rooms. I’m very excited to work together to bring positive change to health care in Scarborough and across Ontario.

The PC government honours its pledge to make life affordable and respect our taxpayers. Our first order of business is to pass a motion to scrap the Liberal cap and trade carbon tax.

The Ontario PC government is committed to working For The People, and I look forward to meeting with each and every one of you to learn how we can change Scarborough-Rouge Park for the better.

My family and I wish everyone a happy Canada day!
